Sergio Perez wants a world champion as his teammate

Force India driver Sergio Perez has claimed that he would cherish the opportunity to race alongside one of F1’s multiple world champions.

The Mexican currently sits at eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship as he prepares for his home grand prix this weekend at Mexico. He finished in eight place last race at Austin.

His current teammate at Force India is Esteban Ocon, who sits ninth in the Drivers’ Championship – 13 points behind Perez. However, Perez has been openly speaking about who he would like to drive alongside in the future and would be excited to drive alongside world champions Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel or Fernando Alonso. "I would be delighted to be with world champions, to be a teammate of Hamilton, Vettel or Alonso," Perez said at a press conference in Mexico City.

"In Formula 1 there is such a difference among teams and cars that your best touchstone is your teammate and to have a world champion as touchstone is always good."
